The one-hour tours delve into the Roman bathing experience, taking visitors around the famous Great Bath, exploring the suite of Roman bathing rooms in the East Baths, and visiting the Sacred Spring where naturally hot water has bubbled up from under the ground for thousands of years.
During the tours, visitors have a chance to see historic photos and illustrations of the Roman Baths, and handle replica bathing equipment – such as a strigil, which Roman bathers used to scrape and clean their skin. The tours also touch on aspects of pre-Roman and post-Roman history.
Guided tours start each day at 10am, 11am, 2pm and 3pm, and cost £5 per person in addition to the entrance ticket (free for children under six). We recommend booking entrance to the Roman Baths one hour before the tour start time, to allow time to enjoy the museum.
Tours can be booked online in advance with Roman Baths tickets, or at the ticket desk on arrival, subject to availability.
